Sáng kiến kinh nghiệm “SKKN Using the webs of Quizziz.com and Liveworksheets.com to encourage students to actively and eagerly participate in extra practice outside the classroom” triển khai gồm các biện pháp nổi bật sau:
– Activities to help broaden vocabulary through activities: crosswords, matching and multiple choice.
– Activities to help improve listening skills through activities: gap filling and multiple choice .
– Activities to help improve writing skills through rewriting a sentence and word formation.
– Activities to help improve grammar points through gap filling and multiple choice.
– Activities to help improve reading skills.
– Practice tests for GCSE exams.

PART I: INTRODUCTION
1. Reasons for the study
As it can be seen that in modern world, the requirement that creates language environment in both inside and outside the class is getting more and more necessary. With positive language learning, students can apply what they have learnt in the class into real life situations and they can be more confident, active and eager to learn English.
Thanks to the development and technology, a large number of fields of society have greatly improved. It has brought about positive changes, created a lot of productivity which helps people lives become better and better. Education is not an exeption. With the effect of 4.0 technology, teaching content, teaching methods and its forms are changed to meet new requirements. Technology has assisted not only teachers but also students both inside and outside classroom, which results in good achievements.
For a long time, extra practice has been an essential part of study progress. It helps students revise and practice the knowledge they have learnt. For the reasons above, I would like to conduct the Teaching Experience namely: “Using the webs of Quizziz.com and Liveworksheets.com to encourage students to actively and eagerly participate in extra practice outside the classroom”.
2. New points of the topic
Assigning homework has existed in every subject for a long time. Not only in other subjects but also in English, homework plays an important role in teaching and learning process; however, some teachers have not found the ways that help students both feel interested and study the subject effectively. When being asked about the homework that were given, students said that although they knew that homework was important, they seemed to show no intererest in it. Some popular kinds such as: learn by heart new vocabulary and structures, do the exercises in the workbook or prepare the next lesson really make them bored.
Designing extra practice on web tools such as quizzes or liveworksheets give students new experiences.They help encourage learners, create motivation for them and make them actively take part in doing many kinds of homework. Moreover, these webs assist teachers in checking students’ understanding as well as quick feedback from the learners, helping the teachers adjust teaching and learning in the next time.
3. Aims of the study
The aims of the research are as follows:
- To design interesting kinds of activities for extra practice.
- To help students actively and eagerly participate in extra practice.
- To help students improve English skills effectively and skillfully so that they get the highest scores.
4. Methods of the study
- Study some web tools.
- Read materials relating to the topic.
- Design suitable extra activities for students.
- Collect information from students and other teachers.
- Learn from experience based on achieved results.
5. Scope of the study
The 11, 12 graders.

1. Theoretical and practical background
1.1. Theoretical background
1.1.1. The importance of creating learning environment outside the classroom
“Learning environment refers to the diversity of physical locations, contexts, and cultures in which students learn. Since students may learn in a wide variety of settings, such as outside-of-school locations and outdoor environments, the term is often used as a more accurate or preferred alternative to classroom, which has more limited and traditional connotations – a room with rows of desks and a chalkboard, for example.
The term also encompasses the culture of a school or class, its presiding ethos and characteristics, including how individuals interact with and treat one another as well as the ways in which teachers may organize an educational setting to facilitate learning.”
While children acquire a lot of knowledge in school, their learning process continues beyond the classroom. In reality, one period in a high school always lasts 45 minutes. In order to understand the knowledge that teacher has taught, a lot of extra activities are prepared to help students consolidate the knowledge or widen it for better understanding.
As the definition above, it is believed that learners can study in many different ways in diversified environments.
1.1.2. The importance of interest in study
Interest is an individual’s special attitude towards an object, which is both meaningful to life and capable of bringing pleasure to the individual in the process of activity in life as well as in study. (Nguyen Quang Uan)
Interest plays an important role, having a great impact on the attitude, work and study results of each individual. Johann Friedrich Herbart (1776-1841) – German psychologist, who first developed the general theory of education that interest plays a central role in education. He emphasized that interest is not only seen as a motivation in learning but also an important goal or outcome of education (according to Nguyen Duc Nhan)
Being interested in learning helps students a lot. When they are interested, they have a motivation to become active and maintain our attention for long periods of time. Interest is the foundation for active memorization, attitudes, emotions in learning, the power for research, creativity, and maximization of one’s potential.
